General Machinist

BASIC FUNCTION: To machine parts per print or specific instruction on manual machine tools and to be available to work as scheduled.
DIMENSIONS: Communicates with the General Manager, Shop Leads, Production Control personnel and other shop employees as needed or as appropriate.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Accurately machines parts following blueprints and other written/verbal specifications while meeting routed hours.
2. Reports exceptions to the traveler, including hours and material used, to shop lead hand so the MOM can be adjusted if necessary.
3. Accurately clocks on and off operations as instructed on the traveler.
4. Accurately completes operations and quantities and accurately records job transactions.
5. Sets up, adjusts and efficiently operates manual machine tools to perform diversified and difficult operations requiring close/exact tolerances on products with various dimensions, while working with unusual contours and finish specifications.
6. Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials into machine.
7. Welds hard tacks as needed to secure parts when required.
8. Maintains and inspects cutting tools for sharpness and usability.
9. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors; i.e., speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut.
10. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls as required.
11. Moves all completed work to the next station required.
12. Exercises special care to ensure the machine is running correctly preventing costly machine damage.
13. Cleans and maintains machine, tooling, and parts to ensure that equipment is in optimal production condition.
14. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of KBC product.
15. Attends regular safety training meetings.
16. Abides by all KBC policies with emphasis on attendance and safety.
17. Maintains a safe and clean work area and environment.
18. Performs other duties as needed or as assigned.
19. Strives to meet or exceed customer expectations and strives for continuous improvement in the daily processes of conducting business.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally. Anything over 50 pounds requires two people or the use of a lifting device. Capable of hearing or an awareness of the operation of forklifts and cranes moving throughout the facility and capable of operating a fork lift truck and overhead crane. Must be able to move around the shop floor, and negotiate ramps and uneven floor surfaces with exposure to a typical shop environment; i.e. extreme heat, cold, dust, noise, fumes and other elements. Must be able to perform job tasks in a confined space, climb and work off ladders and/or lifting apparatus. Must be able to reach up and across the body. This position requires the individual to wear safety glasses, welding hood, steel toed shoes and other required PPE.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Capable of setting up and operating manual machine tools such as VTLs, Radial Drill, Horizontal Mill, Key Mill, Standard Lathes, and Blanchard Grinding equipment. A minimum of three years machine tool operation and completion of a vocational training course is preferred. Also required to read read measuring instruments (i.e. micromerters, calipers, PI tape, etc.) blue prints, operate a fork lift and overhead crane, and maintain machinery and equipment. This position requires excellent attendance to maintain strict production schedules. Employee mEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
