Welder/Fabricator

BASIC FUNCTION: To assemble and weld components according to blueprints or specific instructions, and be available to work as scheduled.
DIMENSIONS: Communicates regularly with the General Manager, Shop Leads, Production Control personnel and other shop employees as needed or as appropriate.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Weld components to specified instruction utilizing standard welding equipment (TIG, Flux Core, MIG, Stick) to predetermined dimensions and tolerance.
2. Verify and acknowledge component part is properly prepared, fabricated and braced for the weld process specified.
3. Maintain welding equipment.
4. Keep a safe and clean work area, machinery, tools and equipment and the shop area in general.
5. Accurately record job transactions and router hours.
6. May perform other duties as needed.
7. Attend regular safety training meetings.
8. Strive to meet or exceed customer expectations and strive for continuous improvement in the daily processes of conducting business.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally. Anything over 50 pounds requires two people or the use of a lifting device. Must be capable of hearing or have an awareness of forklifts and cranes moving throughout the facility, and may be required to operate forklifts and cranes. Must be able to climb and work from ladders and/or personnel lifting apparatus. May be required to work in confined spaces, crawling in, on and under equipment. Must be able to move around the shop floor, and negotiate ramps and uneven floor surfaces with exposure to a typical shop environment; i.e. extreme heat, cold, dust, noise, fumes and other elements. Must wear a welding hood, safety glasses and steel toed shoes along with other required PPE.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED required). This position requires the knowledge of standard tools, material methods, and practices of the welding trade. Must have obtained ASME certification on Stainless and Carbon Steel, MIG, TIG and Flux Core and three years work experience in welding MIG, TIG and Flux core. Vocational training course completion is preferred. Also required is the ability to read and interpret blue prints, read measuring instruments (i.e. tape measures, etc.), and operate a fork lift and overhead crane. Must be able to read and write simple correspondence. Should have the ability to maintain machinery, equipment and tools used in the welding trade. Must have a safe work history and at all times perform duties in a safe manner. Must be dependable with an excellent attendance record in order to maintain strict production schedules. Must also be a problem solver and have a sense of urgency.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
