Responsibilities and duties will include but not limited to:
o Reviewing equipment arrangement drawings, structural outfitting drawings, and key plans provided by sub-contract design firms for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with vessel technical specifications, shipyard standards, and applicable Regulatory or Classification Society and Flag State requirements.
o Reviewing vendor technical information and liaising with vendors as necessary to gather equipment installation details and ensure that the structural outfitting plans for shipboard installation are developed in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements and yard procedures.
o Developing detailed fabrication, arrangement, and installation drawings for structural outfit items including (but not limited to) foundation drawings, standard equipment mounting details, miscellaneous structural outfit supports, ladders, handrails, etc. Responsibilities also include developing material take offs, bills of material, and parts lists.
o Demonstrate and apply a comprehensive understanding of IACS Classification Society rules pertaining to ships structures, as well as an understanding of shipbuilding processes and practices.
o Revising existing documentation created by others at the direction of engineering management.
o Interfacing with shipyard project management and production trades concerning structural and outfitting related topics.
SAFETY/ENVIRONMENT/ETHICS
Leader and Initiator in Safety. Ensures team compliance with all company & OSHA regulated safety requirements/standards; and environmental and ethical requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned.
Advocates Continuous Process Improvement (CPI).
Required Skills and Education
Required education: High School/GED
Fundamental understanding of marine structural/outfitting design and engineering processes.
o 4 Years of Structural/Outfitting Design experience is required.
o Experience developing 2-D structural outfitting drawings for marine vessels.
o Experience with 3D modeling for development of nested parts and updating models is a plus.
o Self-motivated, and capable of researching equipment and product installation requirements.
o Technical writing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
o Ability to work safely in a shipyard environment, access shipyard production facility, and attend
vessels under construction and repair.
