General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Field Support Specialist to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to install and manage a variety of equipment and systems solutions for General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems and its clients. Key Responsibilities
Senior Field Support Specialists work on systems, software and equipment layout, as well as develop test plans and preventive maintenance programs for General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems and its customers. These employees are responsible for the development, implementation, installation, testing, modification and operation of a variety of complex equipment and systems. Individuals who fill this role also serve as company liaisons with customers on administrative and technical matters. Additionally, these individuals assist customers with the operation and maintenance of General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems systems. Team members also provide technical expertise to users and company personnel both domestically and internationally.
Specifically, the Sr. Field Technician will be responsible for working with a team of technicians and engineers. The selected candidate might be leading a team or an individual contributor on a team. The Sr. Field Technician may create work lists for needed items to begin and complete tests. The candidate will be responsible for the status and grooming of the assigned system to prepare for test. The Sr. Field Technician may be responsible for testing and troubleshooting on the assigned system under the direction of the field engineer or hull lead. The candidate will work with his team to meet cost and schedule score card objectives and explain variance if needed. The candidate will report anomalies to the Field IPT to create problem reports.

Candidates should demonstrate sophisticated troubleshotting and problem solving skills, as well as an ability to design, develop and implement innovative General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems business solutions.
Field Support Specialists must have a high school degree or equivalent and two to four years of relevant work experience. Applicants with an associates degree also qualify. This individual must have strong oral and written communication skills and be proficient with typical PC applications to include Word, Project, Excel.
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is not required at time of hire; however, it is expected that it will be obtainable. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Basic Activities:
Performs a variety of technical and/or specialized support at customer and/or field locations
Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment, systems and/or software malfunctions to eliminate problem
Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change
Coordinates functions with production, engineering and/or shipping
Maintains effective customer communications and relations
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work a minimum of 8 hours per day
Ability to walk from parking lot to work area (up to a mile) and back
Ability to walk up and down stairs and ladders on frequent basis
Ability to kneel, crawl, squat, and bend to work in cramped spaces
Ability to work overhead for sustained periods
Ability to lift 25 pounds (two
people for heavier weights)
Frequent conversations with others (leading, contributing, presenting) both internally and with customer
It is desired that candidates possess and demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of integration, installation, operations, maintenance and testing of various Hull Machinery & Marine Electrical Systems such as Sea Frame Control, Navigation, Combat, and Communication systems used in US Naval programs.
Preferred and demonstrated skills:
US Navy new construction shipbuilding and testing.
Professional etiquette and ability to operate effectively in a distributed team environment and effectively communicate customer initiatives, strategy, and mission needs.
Familiar with US Naval protocol and the ability to work directly with interfaces in uniform and with engineers in other companies, and the customer.
Effectively communicate site problems, concerns, and observations to management in a timely manner.
Superior organizational and prioritization skills.
Candidates should demonstrate a knowledge of shipbuilding construction methodology.
They should be experienced in mil-spec hook up, testing, wire talking, and activation of equipment.
Previous shipbuilding experience is considered a plus.
Fiber optic experience is also preferred.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
