Review contract specifications, determine and document requirements for shipboard fluid systems, propulsion machinery, auxiliary systems and HVAC systems
Write and review system/equipment specifications, perform systems/equipment and vendor evaluations.
Prepare, revise, and/or review technical manuals, engineering operating procedures, instructions, specifications, drawings, standards and documentation for cognizant equipment and systems.
Conduct design reviews and manage subcontract and internal engineering activities involved in the design and engineering of shipboard fluid systems, propulsion machinery, auxiliary systems and HVAC systems.
Conduct shipboard and land-based testing, investigations, analyses and evaluations of equipment.
Interact with project management in support of project requirements.
Must have a comprehensive understanding of marine mechanical and piping systems.
Ability to support the Production Craft concerning mechanical and piping related issues.
Familiarization with federal regulations, international rules and classification society standards.
Have the ability to investigate and resolve design problems as required.
Must be able to research technical standards, equipment manufacturing data and completed project materials; then apply promptly applicable information to current project tasks.
Required Skills and Education
Shipyard experience with new-build vessel construction, upgrades, conversions or repairs.
Experience with designing shipboard fluid systems, propulsion machinery, auxiliary systems and HVAC systems.
Strong knowledge of mechanical and piping design and control configuration. Experience in mechanical and piping system design using ACAD is a requirement
Preferred Skills and Education
1. Mechanical Engineering degree is required.
2. 5 Years of Marine Mechanical and Piping Engineering experience is preferred
