The duties include but are not limited to:
  • Communicates effectively with students, parents, school staff, and central office staff.
  • Attends meetings for referral, eligibility, and IEP development/changes, when necessary.
  • Administers and interprets individual psychological evaluations for all age levels.
  • Completes comprehensive written reports.
  • Assists in the planning, development, and evaluation/monitoring of programs to meet identified learning needs through data-based decision making.
  • Serves as a consultant to parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to assist with planning and implementing methods to maximize learning and adjustment of students.
  • Applies ethics/standards of professional practice and observes relevant laws and policies that govern practices.
  • Participates in professional organizations and continually seeks to improve professional knowledge and skills.
  • Provides in-service training to parents and staff on relevant topics.
  • Utilizes PowerSchool SIS (Student Information Systems) and PowerSchool Special Programs.
  • Travels to various schools or other sites as assigned.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings and committee meetings as required.
  • Supervises interns as assigned.
  • Assures procedural safeguards and maintains confidentiality of records and data in all sources.
  • Recognizes issues of diversity that affect routine interactions and effectively meet these diverse needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Special Services, the Assistant Executive Director of Special Services, and the Supervisor of Psychological Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology, School Psychology, Psychometry, Special Education, or a related field, from a regionally accredited college or university.
Must have Certification as Psychometrist or School Psychologist by Alabama State Department of Education.
A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience or Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) is preferred.
Must have typing skills and familiarity with word processing and database software.
Such alternatives and additions to the above qualifications as the Executive Director of Special Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

Salary Range: From/To As per State Salary Matrix, depending on degree and experience. Beginning Master's pay - $70,709.00.

Applicants selected for certified positions must have undergone an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and been declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
