Essential Functions:
Assists with managing the supplies for Mitchell Cancer Institute (MCI) basic and translational laboratories; acts as a liaison to sales representatives; negotiates prices with vendors; reviews vendor bids and proposals; processes andtracks purchase orders; maintains efficient orderingand supply systems; forecasts laboratory budget needs and works with Principal Investigators (PI) in developing andmanaging individual laboratory budgets; provides orientation to new MCI lab staff and keeps lab members informed of events and activities related to the organization; provides guidance, asrequested byPIs, regardinghiring,training,promotions, and disciplinary issues for postdoctoral and lower level staff; monitors and tracks lab equipment; assists with troubleshooting and maintaining equipment and submits maintenance work requests; provides leadership for the application, maintenance, and continual improvementof laboratory safety; ensures compliance with all regulatory, University and MCI requirements, including OSHA, Biohazard, IRB, and IACUC; coordinates educationalprograms, andinfrastructure relatedtotheoperationofthe specialized laboratories;liaisons with investigators, research personnel and staff to help solve specific operatingproblems and improve activities; maintains quality checks on safety of laboratories, including biohazards and ensures maintenance of the facilities according to good laboratorypractices; assistsintheinstallationandmaintenanceoflaboratory equipment in compliance withfederal regulations; ensures laboratory staff and students are properlytrained in standard operating procedures andequipment specific requirements;trains, mentors, and evaluates laboratory staff to ensure compliance with quality controls, safety policies, and maintenance records; supervises student assistants in specific tasks including autoclaving, maintaining of the autoclave room andbiohazard disposal; assistswith experimental protocols and performs research to include helping design and implement research techniques; collects and analyzes data and draws conclusions as related to specific research projects; assists PIs with preparation of data for publication and in developing research papers as needed; supervises lower level technical positions in carrying out research experiments as needed; performs very technical and highly complex research studies; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required; related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a physical or natural science from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and five years of experience in a public health, medical, clinical or research laboratory

Monday -Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
