The purpose of the Weld Engineer is to develop weld procedures that maximize first pass yield and maximize quality at the source. The Weld Engineer will
Evaluate and make recommendations regarding current and new weld assembly processing, tooling and equipment
Develop and implement work instruction for part fit-up, tack, weld and repair requirements
Develop and implement parameters for weld length, leg length, throat length, penetration, and structural quality
Recommend design changes to improve quality, reliability and productivity of welding processes
Develop and implement documents and procedures for validation of welding equipment and processes to meet or exceed customer expectations
Accountable for development of Welding Procedure Specifications
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent
Relevant welding engineer experience, preferably in shipbuilding
Experience with LEAN Manufacturing
Strong leadership and communication skills
Strong Analysis and problem-solving capabilities
