To improve the structural and pipe dimensional quality and reduce production costs and ship construction cycle time. This goal is pursued using dimensional measurements and analysis and the implementation of construction process changes for ships parts, subassemblies, blocks, and hull by performing the following duties.
Leader and Initiator in Safety. Ensures team compliance with all company & OSHA regulated safety requirements/standards; and environmental and ethical requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Advocate Continuous Process Improvement (CPI).
Accuracy control surveyor specializing in neat construction during fabrication and removal of excess material prior to the erection process.
Candidate should be capable of giving direction to production workers to enable the above to be accomplished. Familiar with critical installations included in shipbuilding.
Candidate should be capable of developing Procedures to enable the following installations to be accomplished.
To include: Shaft alignment; Stern tube installation; Navigation light surveys.
Extensive three dimensional surveying is a requirement.
Professional reporting done in Auto-cad, word and excel spreadsheets is also a requirement.
May be required to work any shift.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, exposed to high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

The individual must have a working knowledge of all safety and environmental regulations, processes, procedures, and company policies and perform the supervisory functions in compliance with all of the above.
Must comply with company, federal, state and local safety and environmental rules and regulations while performing daily job tasks
Required Skills: Candidate should have a minimum of 3 year accuracy control experience in a shipbuilding facility specifically in the unit assembly and erection field. Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture or Civil Engineering preferred. Familiarity with commercial shipyard practices. Knowledge of welding and assembly procedures and erection sequence. Weld shrinkage understanding. Knowledge of structural and piping design. Personal Computer skills and knowledgeable in statistical process control. Preferred Skills:
