Assist the Safety Manager to develop, implement, and evaluate corporate loss control policies, procedures, and associated training to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements.
SAFETY
Must comply with all company and regulated safety requirements. Must be a leader and initiator in safety! Ensures compliance with all company and OSHA regulated safety requirements/standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Support and conduct training to ensure compliance with all safety regulations, permitted conditions and corporate policies.
Routinely conduct internal safety / loss control audits of facilities and operations to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
Perform daily safety compliance walks on vessels with vessel representatives. Facilitate corrective action as needed.
Participate in OSHA Recordables Committee meetings and assist the Risk Manager with employee return to work programs and workers' compensation cost containment efforts.
Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring, sampling, measurements, and assessments (chemical, physical, biological, health stressors, etc.) as needed.
Monitor operations performed by sub-contractors and vendors for compliance with established safety regulatory requirements.
Assist in the research and assimilation of all relevant safety information for the purpose of modifying, updating, and clarifying company safety / loss control policies, procedures and programs.
Assist in the evaluation of all new safety related materials, equipment and consumable products prior to release for company use.
Conduct investigations into accidents, incidents, and property damage for identification of root cause and corrective action to prevent recurrence.
Prepare and present audit and inspection reports for management review.
Must be able to access and tour all vessel work spaces and all work sites on the facility.
Perform other duties as assigned by Safety Manager.
Must be able to work any shift assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Prefer an Associate or Bachelor of Science Degree in Safety; or 1 to 2 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations; and basic level experience with Microsoft Office Suite. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
